Georgia holds snap elections today

The candidates are Mikheil Saakashvili, up-to-now President of Georgia; David Gamkrelidze, Leader of the New Rights Party of Georgia; Irina Sarishvili, Leader of the Imedi (“Hope”) Movement; Levan Gachechiladze, Leader of Freedom Movement; Giorgi Maisashvili, Leader of Party of Future; Badri Patarkatsishvili a businessman and Shalva Natelashvili, Leader of Labor Party.
About 800 observers from OSCE, Council of Europe, EU and CIS and 200 local observers follow elections.
OSCE/ODIHR Spokesperson Urdur Gunnarsdottir told APA correspondent in Tbilisi that OSCE experts also observe voting process.
He added that they will release their judgment at a press conference at 15.00 tomorrow.
Georgian embassy in Azerbaijan told APA that Georgians in Azerbaijan come to the embassy to vote and the polling station at the embassy is open by 20.00.
Before elections started, opposition candidate Natelashvili and Gachechiladze said they will resort to protest actions and express their objection to election rigging if Saakashvili is elected. /APA/
