Cheers erupted from supporters of Tymoshenko following her victory, which came a week after a first parliament vote failed to pass by just a single deputy.
On this occasion deputies voted one by one in a show of hands to avoid a repeat of the previous week when Tymoshenko’s allies claimed that tampering with the electronic system had been responsible for her defeat.
Parliament Speaker Arseniy Yatsenyuk grinned broadly as his vote, the last to be counted in the chamber, gave Tymoshenko the numbers she needed to win the ballot. Only the representative of Our Ukraine National Self Defense bloc, member of “orange coalition” composed of 227 parliamentarians Ivan Spodarenko did not participate in the meeting. He was in resuscitation department of the hospital and therefore could not come to the Parliament.
Parliamentarian of Our Ukraine National Self Defense bloc Ivan Plyush did not vote for Yulia Tymoshenko and was neutral.
Yulia Tymoshenko won 226 votes- the absolute minimum for a vote to pass in the 450-seat Rada and elected Prime Minister of Ukraine. /APA/
