Baku-APA. As Turkey still trying to absorb the effects of the investigation into alleged bribery linked to public tenders, opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli lashed out at the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and said the AK Party government involved in illegal activities, calling on prosecutors to finalize the probe, APA reports quoting Today's Zaman.

"Turkey must confront with corruption," said Bahçeli as he expressed his dismay over the scope of the graft allegations.

"The operation in Ä°stanbul once again showed that this government was involved in illegal activites, has become epicenter of faulty relations based on greed, interests and abuse of public resources," said MHP leader, adding that Turkey turned to a country of corruption, poverty and bans under rule of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan.

Police detained at least 52 people, including bureaucrats, well-known businessmen and the sons of three ministers, on Tuesday as part of a major investigation into alleged bribery linked to public tenders.

Bahçeli said it is irrational to view today's probe as a row between the AK Party government and Hizmet Movement (led by Turkish Islamic Scholar Fethullah Gülen) amid some speculations circulating amongst pro-government media outlets suggesting that the detentions is an operation from the movement.
