13 killed in attacks in Iraq

Baku-APA. 13 people were killed and 39 others wounded in separate violent attacks across Iraq on Monday, police said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The deadliest attack occurred in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, when nine people were killed and 20 others wounded in a car bomb explosion outside a popular cafe in the town of Buhruz, near the provincial capital city of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad, a provincial police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Near Baghdad, a car bomb exploded in the afternoon outside a police station in the town of Tarmiyah, some 40 km north of the capital, killing two policemen and wounding nine others, a police source anonymously told Xinhua.

In a separate incident, a roadside bomb went off at a vegetable market in Basmaiyah suburb in southeastern Baghdad, wounding eight people, the source said.

In western Iraq, a soldier was killed and two others were wounded when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle near the city of Haditha, some 200 km west of Baghdad, a local police source said.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver was killed when a sticky bomb attached to his car detonated in the city of Tuz-Khurmato, some 200 km north of Baghdad, a local police source said.

Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, 8,109 Iraqis were killed in the country from January to November this year.
