The Strait of Hormuz may lose its previous strategic importance in terms of its impact on global energy supplies after the war ends, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with ABC News.
"After this war ends, I don't think the straits will have the same leverage they once did. People will redirect energy routes away from the straits—to the Red Sea, and from there to Israel and the Mediterranean. We can eliminate the Strait of Hormuz as a chokepoint, and we will," Netanyahu said.
