Al Arabiya: Hamas agreed to implement the disarmament clause in the Gaza plan

Hamas announced its readiness to implement two previously discussed points of the Peace Council's plan for a settlement in the Gaza Strip, APA reports citing Al Arabiya television channel .

According to the report, "Hamas's leadership in Gaza informed the movement's foreign leadership of its agreement with two points of the peace plan regarding disarmament and [civilian] personnel" in the Palestinian enclave. It is noted that this refers to points 5 and 8 of the Gaza peace plan.

Point 5 of the initiative calls for the separation of Hamas's military structures from the civilian administration in the Strip, and the personnel employed in the civilian structures. Point 8 stipulates that the disarmament of Hamas forces should be gradual and under international supervision, and that the weapons held by the radical movement's supporters should be transferred not to the Israeli side, but to new Palestinian structures operating under the auspices of and in coordination with the Peace Council.
