Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov says he will continue Turkmenbashi’s policy

Inauguration ceremony of Turkmenistan’s new president Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was held today, APA reports.
Central Elections Commission Chairman Murad Karryev publicized official results of presidential elections held on February 11. He announced that 89.23% of voters had cast their ballots for Berdymukhammedov and he has been elected for five years. Following this, Berdymukhammedov took the oath of office on the constitution and kissed the national flag.
The President was presented with Koran and two volumes of Rukhnama - the late President Saparmurat Niyazov’s book, which he kissed and held to his forehead.
Berdymukhammedov stated that he will continue Turkmenbashi’s policy. He said that Turkmenistan’s foreign policy will not change and the country will fulfil international commitments. The new President noted that he will continue cooperation with other states for transportation of energy deliveries.
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Turkish Premier Rajab Tayyib Erdogan, Russian Premier Mikhail Frdakov, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko, President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzay, President of Tajikistan Emomoli Rahmonov, Assistant Secretary of State Richard A. Boucher and OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut participated in the inauguration ceremony. /APA/
