A new round of negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement between Iran and the United States will begin on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said at a meeting attended by ambassadors, chargés d'affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions accredited in Tehran, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
Aragchi provided information on recent foreign policy developments, including details of the Islamabad Memorandum on ending the war between Iran and the United States. The foreign minister stated that a new phase of negotiations between Iran and the United States will begin on Friday with the aim of reaching a final agreement. He noted that after three months of negotiations, the parties were able to complete the first phase.
According to Aragchi , the most important outcome of the first phase was the announcement of the end of the war.
“Based on the decision we adopted, the end of the war was announced on Monday morning, Tehran time, after the agreement was finalized. However, the memorandum will officially enter into force starting from Friday,” he said.
Aragchi added that the end of the war will also include Lebanon. It was also emphasized that official Tehran views the United States and Israel on one side and Iran and Hezbollah on the other as the parties to the memorandum. Aragchi said that ending the war in Lebanon is considered an integral part of ending the broader conflict.
“The end of the war also includes the end of the occupation, and the war cannot be considered fully over until Israeli forces withdraw from the territories they occupy.”
The Iranian foreign minister stated that any military operation carried out by Israel against Lebanon from now on, as well as the continued occupation of Lebanese territory, will be regarded by Tehran as a violation of the memorandum.
