Today, the city of Shymkent and Shymkent Airport open new gateways both to Southeast Asia, Russia’s regions, and the countries of the Middle East, Director of SCAT Airlines and Shymkent International Terminal LLC Vladimir Denisov said during an event dedicated to the launch of AZAL’s direct Baku–Shymkent–Baku flight, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the link between the passenger terminal of Shymkent Airport and Heydar Aliyev International Airport is a very important element in the activities and cooperation of the two states.
“I can recall many routes that were launched during the early years of Kazakhstan’s independence. Yes, as an airline, we also operated Aktau–Baku flights. We had heavily traveled flights from Baku to Shymkent, mainly operated by AZAL using Tu-134 aircraft. Cargo programs were also carried out here. Therefore, this close connection is now being restored thanks to a new bridge and a new route being re-established between Shymkent and Baku,” Vladimir Denisov noted.
He stressed that everyone knows Azerbaijan and Heydar Aliyev International Airport have for many years served as a gateway to Europe and a gateway to America, as well as to neighboring countries.
“Dear colleagues, I am very pleased to see you at our terminal today and to welcome all our friends from Azerbaijan. I hope that this close cooperation between our two major cities will not only be restored, but will also have very significant prospects for the future,” Vladimir Denisov added.
