US President Donald Trump said Iran would never possess a nuclear weapon under the emerging agreement between Washington and Tehran, while insisting that the deal was fair and entering a new phase, The Economic Times reports.
“Iran will never have a nuclear weapon under deal,” Trump said.
The US president also signalled progress in negotiations, saying, “Iran deal goes to a second stage,” and adding, “We think it’s a fair deal.”
He also warned of severe consequences if Iran sought to develop nuclear weapons. “All hell will break out on Iran if Iran tries to gets a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.
Trump’s remarks come as the US and Iran continue discussions over a potential agreement, though details of the next phase have not been disclosed.
