Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has said that individual developers should be responsible for ensuring the safety of their artificial intelligence models and involve independent experts in assessing risks, rather than slowing down the development of the entire AI industry, APA reports.
“Each developer is responsible for working at the pace required to train models safely and independently taking the necessary measures to do so. Engaging independent experts and advisers to assess risks is one of the industry’s best practices,” he said.
According to Zuckerberg, Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) is already applying this approach in several areas, and other AI developers can take similar steps.
He noted that Meta had previously delayed the launch of its Muse AI agent for several months due to safety concerns. However, the company did not call on other developers to postpone the release of their own agents.
“We simply did it and treated the matter as part of our day-to-day responsibilities,” Zuckerberg said.
