Venezuela’s government said it reinforced security around the US embassy in Caracas after uncovering an alleged plot to attack it, APA reports, citing Foreign media.
Top negotiator Jorge Rodríguez said early Monday that right-wing extremists had planned to plant explosives at the diplomatic mission in the Venezuelan capital.
“As the head of Venezuela’s peace and dialogue process, I want to state that we have warned the U.S. government about the threat through three channels. This provocation was planned by local right-wing extremists, and their intention was to place deadly explosive devices at the U.S. embassy in Venezuela,” Rodríguez said.
According to him, security measures have been strengthened at the diplomatic facilities of countries respected by Venezuela.
