The structural liquidity surplus in Azerbaijan's banking sector amounted to AZN 6.2 billion at the end of September this year, APA-Economics reports.
This was stated in an announcement by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
The indicator, calculated excluding funds required to be held as mandatory reserves, increased 2.2 times compared to December last year.
The structural liquidity surplus reflects the difference between the Central Bank's liabilities to the banking system and its claims on banks.
The CBA stated that it mainly uses 7-day deposit operations to manage liquidity. At the end of September, the share of these operations in the sterilization portfolio of open market operations stood at 66.4%.
Note that the previous announcement indicated that the structural liquidity surplus amounted to AZN 6.3 billion at the end of August, while the share of 7-day deposit operations stood at 70.8%.
