The United States, Japan, and the European Union may announce plans in the coming weeks to lay the groundwork for a new trade agreement on critical minerals, APA reports citing Bloomberg.
According to their information, US Trade Representative Jamison Greer intends to begin negotiations with Brussels and Tokyo on a trade agreement in April, shortly after the end of the period for collecting agreements from interested parties, which is scheduled to end on March 19.
One source told the agency that the announcement of the US and Japanese plans could coincide with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's visit to the White House, also scheduled for March 19.
It is noted that the topic of negotiations on a trade agreement between the parties is included in the agenda of the Group of Seven (G7) summit.
