Baku-APA. The Jordanian government on Monday signed deals with two companies to build two solar power plants, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Under the agreements, the two companies will build two 10- megawatts solar power plants in southern Jordan, the ministry said in a statement.

The two agreements increase the number of the total deals signed by the government for power generation through renewable energy projects to 12, it added.

The 12 projects that value 560 million U.S. dollars will be connected to the national grid in 2015, it said.

Jordan, which imports about 96 percent of its energy needs annually, seeks to increase reliance on renewable energy resources.

Under the country's energy strategy, electricity generated through renewable energy will account for about 10 percent of its need by 2020.
