Baku. Turbat Baghirova – APA. The Cultural and Educational Relations Center of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Azerbaijan held on Thursday an event to mark the International Day of Francophonie.
Addressing the event, Egyptian ambassador to Azerbaijan Suzanne Mohamed Gamil gave thorough information about the organization.
The International Organization of La Francophonie (IOF) was created in 1970. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, who served as the Secretary General of the United Nations in 1992-1996, was the first head of the IOF which has its head office in Paris and consists of 56 countries. Since 1986, the IOF has been organizing major summits in different countries.
At the end of the event, the film Al Massir (Destiny) by famous Egyptian film director Youssef Chahine was displayed.
