"The European Commission's report is not harsh. The document could have been harsh if it had been based solely on facts. This report is harsh on its authors," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, APA's local bureau reports.
According to him, it is unacceptable for European bureaucracy to demand the release of those who have committed acts of violence.
"It is regrettable that the authors of the report were unable to present any critical observations based on real facts," the Prime Minister added.
Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the circumstances mentioned in the report once again expose the current deplorable reality of European bureaucracy.
The head of government added that the European Commission's demand to repeal the Law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence" adopted in Georgia will not be fulfilled.
It should be noted that the European Commission presented its 2026 enlargement package yesterday. The document stated that Georgia has experienced regression in the areas of the judiciary and fundamental rights for the third consecutive year. It was emphasized that the Georgian authorities had failed to implement the recommendations presented last year.
In addition, the report called on the Georgian authorities to release all detained individuals, including politicians, journalists, and activists.
