The gunfire that killed a Turkish soldier along the Türkiye-Iran border is suspected to have originated from the Iranian side, Xinhua reports.

This was stated in a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense regarding the incident along the Türkiye-Iran border that resulted in the death of a soldier.

The ministry noted that on October 31, gunfire erupted during an intervention to prevent an illegal border crossing along the Türkiye-Iran border, resulting in the death of Turkish soldier Yusuf Sait Unlu.

An investigation has been launched to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident. It was also noted that the Iranian side is conducting judicial and administrative investigations into the incident.
