Another tree-planting campaign has been organized in Sumgayit on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day, the Sumgayit City Executive Power told APA.
The event, held in the Sumgayit Boulevard area, was attended by Head of the Sumgayit City Executive Power Zakir Farajov, heads of law enforcement agencies, departments, enterprises and organizations, members of martyrs' families, war veterans, and representatives of the public.
As part of the large-scale campaign, 2,250 olive trees were planted in the boulevard area. Agrotechnical care was provided for the planted trees, the soil around their bases was loosened, and watering and other necessary maintenance work was carried out.
It was emphasized that the campaign, dedicated to the anniversary of the historic Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War, also carries special symbolic significance. Each planted tree represents respect for the cherished memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, love for the native land, peace, and faith in the future.
In addition, a campaign titled "Exchange Waste for Seedlings" was held in the Sumgayit Boulevard area, jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Sumgayit City Executive Power . As part of the campaign, citizens handed over plastic and glass waste, as well as used batteries, and received various tree seedlings in return. The main purpose of the event was to promote waste sorting and recycling, raise environmental awareness among the population, protect the environment, and strengthen public support for expanding green spaces.
Note that in recent years, consistent measures have been implemented in Sumgayit to preserve ecological balance, expand green areas, and further improve the city's aesthetic appearance. Particular attention has been paid to greening Sumgayit Boulevard, located along the Caspian Sea coast, planting new trees and ornamental plants, and regularly maintaining existing green spaces.
The measures implemented in this direction make a significant contribution to improving the city's ecological environment, creating more favorable conditions for residents' recreation, and developing Sumgayit as a modern, green city.
