The remains of Nofel Jahangir oglu Asgarov, a missing martyr of the First Karabakh War, have been handed over to his family in the city of Ganja, APA’s local bureau reports.
A farewell ceremony was first held at the house where the martyr’s family lives in Ganja. City officials, representatives of the public, law enforcement officers, families of martyrs, war participants, and other community members attended the ceremony.
After the funeral prayer was performed, the remains of the martyr, a tank serviceman, were laid to rest at the Martyrs’ Alley in Ganja. Prayers were recited for his soul, and a volley of gunfire was fired. The Azerbaijani flag draped over the coffin was handed over to his relatives.
It should be noted that Nofel Jahangir oglu Asgarov was born in 1966 in the village of Borsunlu, Tartar district. His family later moved to the city of Ganja.
He went missing in June 1992 during battles in the village of Sirkhavand, Aghdara district, in the Karabakh war.
Nofel Asgarov was married and had two children.
