Employees of Armenia's National Security Service have detained former MP Argam Abrahamyan on charges of inciting a contract killing, APA reports.

Later, by a court decision, a preventive measure of arrest was imposed on him.

Argam Abrahamyan is the son of Armenia's former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and the son-in-law of businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party.

According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, a criminal case has been initiated against Abrahamyan under the article of the Criminal Code on incitement to commit a contract killing.

According to the investigation's version, Abrahamyan suspected that his wife was in contact with a person identified as S.V. and was giving him a large amount of money. After that, he planned to have that person killed in order to take revenge.

The Investigative Committee claims that instead of committing the murder personally, Abrahamyan instructed G.Kh., an employee of the security service who was financially and personally dependent on him, to carry it out.

According to the investigation, G.Kh. accepted the assignment as a contract and shot S.V. dead on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan on April 30, 2023.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
