Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the chapter of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been closed and peace has been established, Pashinyan stated in his address to the Armenian people on the anniversary of the trilateral meeting held in Washington on August 8, 2025, APA reports.
Pashinyan said that peace was established between the two countries as a result of the trilateral meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan held at the White House a year ago at the initiative and with the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to him, the Armenian side now refers to the August 8 meeting as the "Peace Summit" and the joint declaration adopted together with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and signed by Donald Trump as a witness as the "Peace Declaration."
"The peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan is visible and tangible to everyone," Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister noted, however, that the final point in the implementation of the peace agenda has not yet been reached. He recalled that the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan," initialed by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, 2025, still needs to be signed and ratified. Pashinyan also said that the delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border must continue.
"The chapter of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan is closed, and peace has been established. It is before your eyes and has become part of your life and everyday life," the Prime Minister added.
He thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his contribution to the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I congratulate the Armenian people on August 8. I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on August 8," Pashinyan concluded his address.
