Drone threat in Russia's Gelendzhik: All beaches in city closed

A drone attack threat was declared in the city of Gelendzhik in Russia's Krasnodar Krai on August 8, Interfax reports.

Residents and tourists were asked to leave the beaches amid the operation of air defence systems in the city.

The head of Gelendzhik, Alexey Bogodistov, said that all beaches in Gelendzhik and the rural districts of Kabardinka and Divnomorsk had been closed. It was stated that the decision was made to ensure people's safety.

According to the report, an air raid alert was activated in the city and air defence systems are operating.

Earlier, reports had emerged of explosions being heard in the sky over Gelendzhik.

It should be noted that on August 3, seven people, including three children, were killed and more than 40 others were injured after a UAV fell on a beach area in the settlement of Arkhipo-Osipovka near Gelendzhik. Temporary flight restrictions were also imposed at Gelendzhik Airport in connection with the incident.
