European Union countries increased imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by 14% in June compared to the same month last year, WELT reports.

According to the report, Russia's revenues from LNG sales reached approximately 60 million euros per day.

France was the largest importer of LNG from Russia. In June, the port of Montoir in northwestern France received four times more Russian gas than in May.

In addition, in the first half of 2026, European Union countries received 136 cargoes from Russia's Yamal LNG project. Their total volume amounted to approximately 10 million tonnes. This figure is 16% higher compared to the same period last year.

Interestingly, the EU is pursuing a policy of reducing its dependence on Russian gas and plans to completely phase out Russian gas and LNG by 2027.
