Reconstruction of Karabakh and East Zangazur was discussed at the IX Global Baku Forum in Shusha-PHOTO

A panel on "Azerbaijan's Vision for the Reconstruction and Development of the Karabakh and East Zangazur Economic Regions" was held in Shusha today as part of the IX Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
The Forum was moderated by co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin.
Speaking at the panel, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha Aydin Karimov said that there are more than 2,000 historical monuments in Shusha and many of them were destroyed during the Armenian occupation. Aydin Karimov noted that some of these monuments are being restored. Speaking about the reconstruction work carried out in the city, the special envoy noted that Shusha is fully supplied with electricity: “Work is underway to improve the city's water supply and find new water sources. The city's sewerage systems are also being upgraded. New roads and streets will be built in Shusha.
In the liberated territories included in the Karabakh economic region (except Shusha region), the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Huseynov said that the liberated areas are being cleared of mines. Emin Huseynov spoke about the construction work carried out in the liberated areas in the past.
Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Zangilan region Vahid Hajiyev noted that 31,330 people lived in Zangilan before the occupation, there were 9 preschools and 19 primary schools. During the occupation, the ecosystem of Zangilan was also severely damaged. According to him, the region has great potential for solar energy and ecotourism: "The construction of Zangilan airport will be completed in September this year."
