The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law extending martial law until January 29, 2027, APA reports citing Ukrinform.
293 members of parliament supported draft law No. 16182, “On the Approval of the Decree of the President of Ukraine ‘On the Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine.’”
The law will take effect on October 31. Under its provisions, martial law is extended until January 29, 2027.
“The implementation of the Presidential Decree ‘On the Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine’ will facilitate the adoption of adequate measures to counter armed aggression, ensure Ukraine’s independence, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and provides for the extension of the powers granted to the relevant state authorities, military command, military administrations, and local self-government bodies necessary to repel armed aggression,” said National Security and Defense Council Secretary Ihor Klymenko in the Verkhovna Rada before the law was adopted.
The next bill under consideration by members of parliament is “On the Approval of the Decree of the President of Ukraine ‘On the Extension of the Term of General Mobilization’” No. 16183.
