UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated that ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East largely depends on the political will of the United States, says official UN website.
He noted that ensuring peace in the region requires an active and determined stance from international powers, particularly the United States, which plays a decisive role.
The Secretary-General подчеркнул that the long-standing confrontations in the Middle East cannot be resolved solely through military means. These conflicts are rooted in deep political, social, and historical causes, and addressing them requires a comprehensive approach. He emphasized that diplomatic negotiations, humanitarian initiatives, and building trust between the parties should be among the key priorities.
The UN chief added that the United States is one of the most influential actors in the region, and its actions could significantly impact the peace process. In particular, mediation efforts, economic and political pressure mechanisms, as well as coordination with international partners, could help achieve stability in the Middle East.
At the same time, the Secretary-General called on the international community to act responsibly. In his view, the efforts of a single country are not sufficient, and achieving lasting peace without global cooperation is difficult. He stated that the UN is ready to continue its mediating role in this process and invites the parties to engage in dialogue.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that resolving conflicts in the Middle East is impossible without political will and concrete steps. In this regard, the position and actions of the United States may determine the future of the region in the near term.
