United States President Donald Trump insisted on Friday that, during his second term, the country will achieve economic independence, just like it did with energy in his first term, APA reports.
Speaking during a mining roundtable in Washington, Trump stressed that the US is no longer reliant on what he described as "hostile foreign nations." He cited critical minerals and raw materials as "America's strength," and underscored commitment to having products made of those mined, refined, and manufactured in the US.
Furthermore, Trump claimed that 3,400 mines closed over the past three decades but that, thanks to his policies, "they're coming back, and they're coming back fast." He stressed that new mines are being opened and built. Moreover, Trump said that his administration has concluded 160 mineral deals worth $40 billion, and secured a total of $19.2 trillion in overall investments.
