Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has commented on US President Donald Trump's statement that Iran's "trophies" will be seized, Baghaei wrote on the X, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
Trump wrote the phrase "trophies belong to the victors", saying that the US has taken a large amount of oil from Venezuela and that the same approach can be applied to Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that this approach is reminiscent of the descriptions in Joseph Heller's novel "Catch-22" where war becomes a source of personal gain.
Baghaei said that US officials are promising a repeat of the Venezuela scenario against Iran. According to him, for this, it is necessary to win the war first.
"First, really win, then get stuck in Hormuz," Baghaei emphasized.
He noted that a party that has not achieved any of its goals, is in a difficult situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and faces a lack of weapons and loss of prestige, talking about "Iranian trophies" is only possible on paper.
