Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. Health Ministry and Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation will start treatment of schoolchildren of the 1st – 6th forms for intestinal worms as from October this year.
Director of Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation in Azerbaijan Soltan Mammadov told APA that the project implemented basing on the recommendation of World Health Organization would cover 250 schoolchildren in 29 regions of Azerbaijan. Prophylactic measures will be carried out twice a year. The project will cover 40 regions as from next year.
The project will cover the whole republic within a year or two. Health Ministry will further continue the project. Soltan Mammadov said that helminthic disease had increased by 25-30 percent due to the lack of prophylactic measures.
