Some foreign companies engage in illegal labour migration

Several foreign companies and representations participating in oil projects implemented in Azerbaijan are engaged in illegal labour migration in the country. Those organizations did not observe law on labour migration while sending Azerbaijanis to work in Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries, chairwoman of the Committee to Defend Oilmenâ€™s Rights Mirvari Gahramanli told the APA.
Rights defender stated that according to the law on labour migration, enterprises, organizations and other juridical persons should register local workers in migration service of proper executive body while sending them to engage in labour activity abroad. The activity the person is dealt with should be shown in the regulation of the organization and should be registered in Azerbaijani Justice Ministry. The foreign organizations should register workers sent abroad in Azerbaijani Embassies and Consulates operating in those countries.
â€œCompanies dealing with illegal labour migration violate the rights of workers. Labour agreement is not concluded with the labor migrants, the labour agreement does not coincide with Labour Code and so on.
Companies concluding labour agreement avoid responsibility for incidents occurred regarding the workers, expenses of the workers are not paid due to legislation and so on,â€ she said. /APA/
