Classes have begun at the Shukurbayli village secondary school in Jabrayil district after 33 years, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
The last bell rang in May 1993 at the school, which had been operating since 1926.
The school ceased operations during the years of occupation.
Following the liberation of Jabrayil from occupation, a new school building meeting modern standards was constructed as part of the restoration work carried out in Shukurbayli village.
Officials, the school staff, families of martyrs, and village residents attended an event held on the occasion of the first day of classes. The memory of the martyrs was commemorated, and the Great Return was discussed in the speeches.
Students then presented musical and dance performances, and the bell marking the first day of classes was rung.
Zarifa Mammadova, a graduate of the school who now works as a teacher, said that returning to her native village as a teacher was a great source of pride for her.
The students also said they were delighted to study in their ancestral homeland after 33 years.
