US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not ruled out the possibility of suspending the operations of the US Embassy in Kyiv, Rubio told journalists, APA reports.
“We will make a determination about whether it’s safe to remain there,” Rubio said.
He noted that the United States assesses the security of its diplomatic missions in all countries around the world on a daily basis.
According to Rubio, if the US determines that any diplomatic mission is under threat and that it is necessary to change its status in response, it will take the appropriate steps.
“Right now, we haven’t done that in Kyiv,” the US Secretary of State added.
Rubio's remarks came after Russia warned foreign diplomats that it was dangerous to remain in Kyiv. On October 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on foreign nationals and employees of diplomatic missions to leave Kyiv. At the same time, the diplomatic missions of several European countries have said they will continue their operations in Kyiv.
