Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a delegation led by Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Deemah AlYahya on October 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
During the meeting, the prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Digital Cooperation Organization following the country’s accession to the organization this year, as well as expanding cooperation in digital transformation, innovation, artificial intelligence, the digital economy and the startup ecosystem, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has identified digital development, innovation and the application of new technologies as one of the important areas of the country’s economic development and international cooperation. In this context, information was provided on the measures implemented by Azerbaijan to develop the digital economy, improve digital infrastructure and apply innovative solutions, as well as artificial intelligence.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on Azerbaijan’s contribution to energy security and the projects it has implemented to ensure the transportation of energy resources via reliable and diversified routes. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan plays an active role in regional and international energy cooperation and that the development of energy infrastructure and transportation routes serves to strengthen economic ties between countries. In this context, detailed information was also provided on the use of advanced digital technologies.
Azerbaijan’s contributions to the development of transport and communication links in the region, increasing the efficiency of international transport corridors and expanding transit opportunities were also noted. The importance of applying digital technologies and optimizing logistics processes in this area was emphasized.
DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya provided detailed information on the organization’s activities, noted Azerbaijan’s achievements in the field of digital development and emphasized the organization’s interest in further developing cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including current topics on the international and regional agenda.
