Classes will be partially or fully suspended at 400 to 500 secondary schools in France on Monday amid ongoing protests, French Education Minister Edouard Geffray said, according to the BBC.
According to him, 24 schools have been burned or looted since the protests began. Overall, 735 of the country’s 3,700 schools have been affected in one way or another by violent demonstrations.
The protests began over dissatisfaction with teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and the poor condition of school buildings.
Thousands of students and other citizens are taking part in the demonstrations.
