"The volume of cargo transported through Azerbaijan in all directions is increasing," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during a press briefing with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, APA reports.
"The development of connectivity and transport links was one of the key parts of our discussions. Azerbaijan is an active participant in regional transport projects and, in many cases, their initiator. The East-West and North-South transport corridors pass through the territory of Azerbaijan. Our good relations with our neighbors and our neighbors' neighbors have enabled us to establish a broad format of cooperation that serves the interests of all participants.
Today, the volume of cargo transported through Azerbaijan in all directions is increasing. We have made substantial investments in transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan and neighboring countries, and we continue this process. Given the new geopolitical situation, we see the need to increase the capacity of our trade routes and railway infrastructure. We are implementing all of this according to the established schedule and using our own financial resources," President Ilham Aliyev said.
