The European Union will allocate grants of up to 200 million euros to support the development of transport, energy, and digital connectivity in the South Caucasus, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said during a press statement with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
"We have our Global Gateway Investment Program, and under this program we will allocate grants of up to 200 million euros to support the development of transport, energy, and digital connectivity in the South Caucasus. This could help mobilize up to 2 billion euros in investments from the public and private sectors combined. The projects could include, for example, the establishment of a railway connection through Nakhchivan and the development of the Port of Baku," the President of the European Commission said.
