Cooperation must be strengthened to combat transnational crime, Hamad bin Nasser bin Rashid Al-Misnad, President of Qatar's Administrative Control and Transparency Authority and Chair of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Heads of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of OIC Member States, said at the third high-level meeting of the heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baku, APA reports.
Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad stated that Qatar hosted the second Ministerial Meeting in Doha in November 2024. That meeting contributed to the development of cooperation between relevant agencies and the expansion of the signing of the Makkah Convention.
According to him, 21 member states signed the Convention during the meeting, bringing the total number of signatory states to 24. Qatar recently ratified the Convention and hopes that other OIC member states will also ratify it so that the document can enter into force as soon as possible.
The Qatari official emphasized that the current complex political and security situation poses serious challenges for countries and relevant institutions, increasing risks that could hinder the development of states.
He expressed gratitude to OIC member states and the organization's General Secretariat for their cooperation during Qatar's chairmanship. He also expressed confidence that Azerbaijan would continue efforts in this direction and contribute to achieving practical results in the interests of peoples and states.
