Today, a meeting took place at the Media Development Agency under the leadership of Hikmət Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, the Agency told APA.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, members of the Supervisory Board, and heads of television channels, news agencies, and several leading print and online media outlets.
During the meeting, Hikmət Hajiyev emphasized that as a result of reforms led by President Ilham Aliyev, the media has become an active participant in Azerbaijan's progress and the modern societal development process. It has expanded its international relations, increased its influence in the global information space, and enhanced its competitiveness. He highlighted the media's role in public-political and cultural life, stressing that in the future, it must continue to adapt to the demands of the new era, particularly in the context of digital transformation and information security. He also shared his thoughts on state-media relations and current media issues.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, discussed the Agency's activities, initiatives, the results of ongoing media reforms, and the sector's development prospects.
During the discussions, it was noted that various international and local events would be organized to mark the 150th anniversary of National Press, including development programs in partnership with prominent foreign media entities. Other projects focusing on informing the public about the history and present of Azerbaijani press are also planned.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of media leaders' proposals and an exchange of ideas on the future development of the media sector and contemporary challenges.
