“The BBC regrets that the National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan have decided to stop broadcasts by international broadcasters in that country from Thursday January 1. We are disappointed that their decision will deprive many hundreds of thousands of listeners in Azerbaijan of the BBC’s impartial and editorially independent news and information services in Azeri, English, Russian, and Turkish in high quality FM sound on Radio Baku 103.3. Our services remain available on shortwave and online via BBCAzeri.com, BBC Russian.com, BBCTurkish.com, and BBC.com/news. We will be exploring other means of distribution for our services in the region”.
The National TV and Radio Council told APA it has not received any proposal from BBC yet. The United States have already sent its proposals about the broadcasting of Voice of America and Radio Liberty to Azerbaijan.
