Baku. Kamala Guliyeva–APA. “The Press Council received nearly 18 000 applications about the violation of professional rules over the past year”, said Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov at the press conference on Friday dedicated to the project of observing the professional ethics in Azerbaijani press. More than 60 newspapers will be monitored regularly within the project sponsored by the US embassy in Azerbaijan. Amashov said they would publish monthly results of monitoring and draw a rating list of the newspapers for their observing of professional ethic rules.
The newspapers will be monitored for 50 violations of the rules within the $56 000 project. The Press Council will not make strong decision against the media organizations violated the rules and they will be publicly reproached.
US embassy spokesman Terry Davdison said the embassy supported the efforts directed to the increase of professionalism in Azerbaijani media.
