Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “The United States is waiting for the answer to its proposal to restore broadcasting of foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan. We hope that we can move forward and reach an agreement soon. If Azerbaijani government agrees to move forward and answers, members of the U.S. Broadcasting Council may continue talks anytime and anywhere,” Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan Terry Davidson told APA.

Terry Davidson said members of the U.S. Broadcasting Council and Azerbaijani government had discussed restart of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and the Voice of America (VOA) radio and VOA television programs.
“U.S. Broadcasting Council offered to continue radio broadcasts on local frequencies. It was also offered to release news in the United States in Azeri or English. We want official Baku’s answer to allow broadcasting of foreign radios,” he said.

Terry Davidson added that the United States is a country respecting laws.
“We respect Azerbaijan’s laws. We want to determine a legal framework as a result of talks that can make foreign radios available to broader audience in Azerbaijan,” he said.
