One-year contract for VOA broadcasting on AzTV expires on December 31 and the company sent a letter of warning about stopping of broadcasting on December 31.

Voice of America has been aired on AzTV since 2007.

Chief of the Azerbaijani service of Voice of America Bulud Mehmandarli told APA that they received AzTV’s letter of warning a week ago. Mehmandarli said AzTV took this measure at the request of National Broadcasting Council and VOA officials hope that the problem will be solved. “The International Broadcasting Council makes serious initiatives on this issue. This issue will be solved not between AzTV and VOA, but at the official meetings. We understand the AzTV position. AZTV makes this step because of warning by the National Broadcasting Council. This issue will be solved in the negotiations between US and Azerbaijan governments. We are hopeful that Azerbaijani viewers can watch the TV programs of Voice of America”.
