Media representatives’ body armors presented

Representatives of more than 70 media organizations will receive special jackets next week. Head of the OSCE Office in Baku Jose Luis Herrero Ansola said that it was an obvious case of Azerbaijan-OSCE cooperation. He said OSCE Freedom of Speech Office sponsored preparation of the special jackets. The ambassador quoted OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media Miklos Haraszti. “Police should assist the journalists in coverage of meetings and other mass actionsâ€. Deputy Interior Minister Oruc Zalov said his organization had long-year cooperation with OSCE. “Police and media representatives have a warm relationship. I don’t consider that journalists face with assaults. If police knows that meets journalist shows appropriate behavior. Over the past years the journalists joined the actions as participant and therefore were arrested. They were released when their identities have been clearedâ€. Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov said that journalists should use special jackets to be distinguished. “It is not to matter journalists use old or new jackets or they use ID-cards, the key is to be distinguished from the action participantsâ€. Amashov also said that OSCE carried out different projects in the country for improvement of professionalism of the media representatives.
