Baku hosts event entitled â€œInformation for all in globalizing worldâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova-APA. 30th meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Executive Board on the theme â€œInformation for all in globalizing worldâ€ has started on Tuesday in Baku, APA reports. AzerTAC news agency hosts the meeting. Addressing the event Director General of AzerTAC agency Aslan Aslanov said that decision to hold meeting in Baku was passed at the OANA 13th General Assembly in Jakarta, Indonesia on December 12, 2007.
He informed the participants about developing Azerbaijan and its most painful problem â€“ Nagorno Karabakh conflict in detail. He said Azerbaijan supported peaceful solution to the conflict, but Armenia took non-constructive position. Aslanov said the international community should pressure on Armenia and restore the international law.
â€œAzerbaijan is known as a tolerant countryâ€, said Aslanov and reminded that Azerbaijan was the first democratic republic in the East. He said that first theater in Azerbaijan was established 135 years ago and first opera was created 100 years ago. The AzerTAC general Director informed the participants about situation of mass media and number of media organizations in Azerbaijan, as well as elimination of censorship and activity of his agency.
Then Chief of the Political Analysis and Information Support Department of the Presidentâ€™s Office Elnur Aslanov read President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s letter to the participants.

President of OANA, Executive Director of Antara agency of Indonesia Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf, heads of national information agencies and senior representatives of Turkey, Russia, Japan, China, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria, UAE and Yemen, as well as President of European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), Director General of Austriaâ€™s APA agency Wolfgang Vyslozil and top officials of the France Press agency are attending the meeting.
The meeting will be continued on Wednesday.
