Media Key organizers and jury are strongly condemned

Yusifoglu said Media Forum portal published his work dedicated to January 20 events. â€œJury changed its decision under the pretext that it was published not in newspaper, but on Internet site. According to the Azerbaijani legislation, online newspapers are also print mediaâ€.
Yusifogluâ€™s publication created confrontation between the members of jury. Some of them rejected to sign the final protocol.
Member of jury Gulu Maharramli said that it was not preconceived decision. They had to take into consideration Article 3.1.3 of the Media Key Charter, which demands to submit newspapersâ€™ copies where nominated works were published. He said Media Forum was only the online forum, but not newspaper.
Maharramli said only well-known journalist Hikmet Sabirogluâ€™s publication issued on Internet site won Media Key so far. It was special prize determined by the organizers.
Chairman of New Generation Journalists Union, the Media Key organizer, Arif Aliyev and chairman of Democratic Journalists League Yadigar Mammadli didnâ€™t respond the questions about this incident.
Media Key prize has been presented on Tuesday. RUH Committee for Protection of Journalists Rights left the Media Key founders list before the presentation.
