Organizing Committee of Azerbaijani Journalistsâ€™ 5th Congress held its last meeting

Chairman of the Organizing Committee Aflatun Amashov said letters with the names of congress delegates and sealed envelopes with secret ballots had already been submitted to the Working Group of 128 founders of the Press Council. He said 10 founders didnâ€™t respond to the letters of Press Council. 123 journalists and 132 representatives of the public community have been nominated for the Governing Board in the letterheads sent by the different media organizations. The Group addressed the Organizing Committee to include names of those, who gained more votes, in the ballots. The Working Groupâ€™s introduction has been approved by the Organizing Committee. The Group has been urged to prepare appropriate letterheads with the names of 27 journalists and 18 representatives of the public community. The Committee discussed the working plan of the Congress and agreed to draw the document based on the proposals. According to the working plan, the congress will begin at 10.00 on June 20. After the congratulation speeches, reports of the Press Council Chairman and Visiting Commission will be heard and discussed at the congress. Then annexes and amendments to the Press Councilâ€™s Charter will be discussed and members of the Governing Board and Visiting Commission, as well as Chairman of the Press Council will be elected at the Congress.
