Azeri media representatives visit Portland in US

The media delegation arriving in Portland, Oregon, get acquainted with the condition of local media and had talks. Azeri visitors had meetings at The Oregon, Portland Mercury, Portland’s #1 alternative weekly newspaper and Spanish newspaper.The meeting at the Tillamook Headlight Herald, 100-year-old newspaper in Tillamook, Oregon was also interesting. The newspaper published in 9-10.000 copies covers only district news.
The media representatives met with Ruth Kovacs, member of editorial council of The Portland Alliance newspaper. He said the newspaper is alternative as well as spoke about media problems and issues causing their discontent at the meeting.
The difference between the US and Azeri media was debated at the meeting at Willamette Week. The newspaper is distributed free of charge with 90.000 copies weekly. The main profit is gained from advertisements.
Azerbaijani visitors also were at the editorial house of the Portland Business Journal newspaper. The newspaper is one of the 41 newspapers in the Business Journal network, covers only economic events. It also has website.
The media representatives will also visit Houston and New York cities.
