Ali Hasanov: â€œWe also concern over the arrest of two journalistsâ€

Baku. Elnur Mammadli â€“ APA. OSCE Representative for Freedom of the Media Miklos Haraszti, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, and Chief of the Public Policy Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov discussed the situation of mass media in the country. Ali Hasanov told journalists that Haraszti spoke about the issues concerned him. â€œHe expressed concern over the arrest of two journalists. We also concern over this issue, but a law is a law and it should be fulfilled. We discussed the prospects of Defamation Law in Azerbaijan in future and current situation in the field of defamation. It was valued as normal, but some problems were underlined. The importance of cooperation with OSCE and other European institutions toward solution of these problems was also stressed at the meetingâ€.

Hasanov said the OSCE representative positively valued the establishment of the Fund of State Support for the Development of Mass Media in Azerbaijan.
