Cable network rules elaborated

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. National Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan is elaborating the cable network rules, chairman of the Council Nushiravan Maharramli told APA. He said the rules would be approved at the Councilâ€™s meeting next year.

Maharramli said 11 cable televisions received license in Azerbaijan, but only five of them operated. A draft law on cable network is also elaborated, said Maharramli and added that the Council controls the cable network only in special cases. â€œThe cable network is only retranslating the foreign channels. There are some foreign channels that could have special policy towards Azerbaijan and we, of course wouldnâ€™t allow those channels to broadcast in Azerbaijan in future. According to the legislation, the cable network in Azerbaijan should coordinate its activity with the National Broadcasting Council. They inform us what channels they would broadcast and started broadcasting only after our agreementâ€.
